The most important indicator of the present health and the future of a city are its public schools.

Fort Wayne Community Schools and its students have a difficult task competing academically with suburban districts but the gap must be closed if the city and its residents are to prosper.

Code Blue Schools was formed during the remonstrance against a major bond issue to remodel the schools. Not only was the bond issue excessive, it was also a distraction to the district's primary mission of improving academic achievement.

Having succeeded in the remonstrance, Code Blue supporters have been trying to give taxpayers a stronger voice in school governance decisions. The best way to do that is to now elect board trustees who support our views in the upcoming fall election in which three district seats will be contested.
